Haisai
and welcome to the
website of The Young Okinawans of Hawaii (YOH). We are a cultural group
which was started over 25 years ago when young Uchinanchu from Hawaii visited Okinawa on a study tour. Upon
their return, they were so inspired by what they had experienced, that
they created YOH; a cultural club dedicated to perpetuating the culture
and spirit of the Uchinanchu.
YOH is a very diverse club with
activities including: Sports teams who compete
in the Hawaii United Okinawan Association (HUOA) League;
Eisa Taiko Drumming and Odori (dance); Community
service events;
And Education, including history and language.
We welcome everyone who is
interested in participating with YOH. You do not need to be
young…just young at heart. Being Okinawan is also
not a requirement; as long as you love andagi, you are welcome.
